Unity and Gala Games team up to build the VOXverse metaverse

Blockchain gaming company Gala Games and Unity Technologies have partnered in a $20 million deal to build the ambitious metaverse project, VOXVerse. Unity will use its expertise in game development to spearhead development of this project, which aims to be the official metaverse of Gala's VOX Collectible NFTs.

Going forward, the VOXVerse team will work with Sim City creator Will Wright and his game studio, Gallium. James Olden, chief strategy officer of Gala Games, said in a statement - “We’re confident Will Wright’s vision for VOXverse will chart a course that will completely change how people think of ‘metaverses’ and lead the entire gaming industry to legitimizing web3 technologies for entertainment.”

VOXVerse aims to be a deeply social gaming environment, with NFT avatars that carry memories and characteristics from all of their differnt blockchain interactions. Players can build social influence, own land, build new worlds, and port themselves into other games in the Gala ecosystem.

Gala Games has already launched 2 iterations of their VOX NFTs, and they plan to launch their next wave of collectibles, VOX Souls, later this year.
