Miley Cyrus Applies for Metaverse & NFT Trademarks

Through her organization Miley Smiley, American singer Miley Cyrus has filed two trademark applications for the “Miley” and “Miley Cyrus” names. The trademarks cover a wide variety of Web3 products and services in the spheres of the metaverse and non-fungible tokens. Some examples of what the trademarks will cover are:

  • Downloadable virtual goods, such as clothing, jewelry, headwear, eyewear, and bags
  • Energy drinks, fruit beverages, non-alcoholic drinks, and carbonated beverages
  • Clothing, including tops, bottoms, vests, coats, jackets, scarves, and sweatshirts
  • Retail and online retail store services featuring clothing, footwear, headwear, and bags
  • Entertainment services, such as live dramatic, comedic, or musical performances

The trademark applications set Cyrus up for delivering a mix of products and services, along with possible live performances as from other music artists like Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Charli XCX, and the Foo Fighters. There’s no word yet on the specifics of the products she will offer, though the trademarks cover a wide net from cosmetics to clothing.

The USPTO licensed trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis revealed the news in a tweet.

The crypto+metaverse trademark application was filed on August 16, 2022, and was drafted in such a way that the trademark appears to be her name as a brand. In June, the hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg also filed for NFT and Metaverse-related trademark applications.
